4 Month, 1 Week Check Up

It was time to go see Dr. Karp again. Oh No, I thought, this is where they jab me in the leg with that needle and expect me to be OK with it. I will quickly catch you up on my stats...
I am 25 3/4" long (75th Percentile) & 13 lbs 10 oz (25th Percentile)...long & lean!
Dr. Karp is very happy with the progress of Physical Therapy on my neck. This Thursday is my last Physical Therapy appointment so we can hopefully close that chapter. Everything else passed Dr Karp's inspection. I have finally learned how to smile and talk for her. I thought that if I smiled and talked to her enough, she would keep the needle-wielding nurse out of my room, but it didn't work. Here she came. I laid there looking at her with a look of dread on my face. I saw the blue case and i knew what it held...Stop right there i said. I don't think she understood and she kept coming closer. Then i noticed the Vaccine Shuffle. This is when Mommy quickly moves to the back of the room, Daddy gets close, grabs my hands and whispers sweet nothings in my ear. And then, here it comes. OUCH. Hey Nurse, what did i do to you? Normally, the Vaccine Shuffle and Nurse-induced jabbing is followed by the bottom lip being extended, face turning bright red, tears forming and then a scream that can be heard by anyone within a half mile of the doctor's office. Not this time. I turned red, daddy sang to me, kissed me all over my face, the nurse stepped back and I composed myself with no crying. Mommy and Daddy did not know what to think. Was it a delayed scream? Nope. I am getting to be a big boy with bigger thighs. Everyone was so proud. Daddy carried me out of the office and I sat there with my chest poked out, letting everyone know that I am a big boy now. Then i heard mommy and Dr. Karp talking about coming back next month...YIKES

Picture People

I have been going to the Picture People since I was 2 months old. Mommy and Daddy are trying to document each month of my life and they love the Picture People. If anyone is looking for a good way to get some pictures, the Picture People are it. Mommy and Daddy bought the card that gives you discounts and it has already paid for itself. It has taken some will-power...the first time they went in, for my 2 month birthday, they went overboard because they wanted everything. The last three times, they have been much better, spending less than $6 each time, but still getting a lot of pictures. Picture People have coupons for a free 8x10 or 10x13 each time we go so that is free and then we use the discount card to get more discounts. Enough of a sales pitch for Picture People...note that we are not sales people for Picture People, just love their services and prices. Here are some of the pictures.

Happy Birthday Pop Pop

Yesterday was my Pop Pop's birthday. I missed him terribly. He was enjoying his birthday in Aruba...enjoy your vacation...you definitely deserve it.
In celebration of his birthday and so I am ready for my first trip to Aruba in December, I went for a swim.

Me in my big green frog pool. Kinda looks like I am swimming in Kermit's mouth.

I love the water!

Gettin my hands and feet wet

What are you lookin at?

Can't a boy just lay around in his pool?

Here are some pictures of my first trip to Aruba...I can't wait to go back to see what everyone is talking about. I do remember a couple things about Aruba~~it is HOT and the Caribbean lobster tails from Sole Mare were to die for. It was a little dark in there...

Hey Ya'll

A Southern Treat...Paula Deen. The three of us attended a Paula Deen Cooking Show here in Norfolk last night. It was more of a comedy show than a cooking show. That Paula is very funny. I sat on my daddy's lap for the entire hour and a half show. I was laughing with everyone else. My mommy and daddy are huge Paula Deen fans. Down-home cooking with lots of butter and fried foods...YUM.
Paula's husband, Michael, is just as funny as Paula. They kept everyone laughing throughout the entire show. After the show, we attacked the free samples at each of the exhibitor's stands. We made it out after only buying 2 containers of Pimento Cheese.
I have been out many times, most of the time to eat...seems like a common activity in my house, but this was my first event with this many people. They were all cheering and clapping, which mommy and daddy thought would startle me. I am startled very easily and normally, when startled, I stick my bottom lip out, hold my breath, turn bright red and then let out a terrible cry, so you can imagine why my parents were so worried.
I was great and Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the evening. If anyone loves Paula Deen like Mommy and Daddy, they recommend you take in one of her shows if she comes near you. It is not something they will need to go back to, but they sure enjoyed it.

First Road Trip

Mommy & Daddy worried so much about the 5 hour trip to visit my Nona & Popi's house. They finally figured out that they would leave at 7pm last Thursday night, hoping I would be more likely to sleep. To remind you, I have shown a great dislike for riding in the car. Mommy and Daddy have tried everything, searched the internet for a solution, asked family and friends for advice, but nothing has worked. Well I treated them to a great surprise on the way to NC. I slept for 4 out of the 5 hours and hardly cried in the hour that i was awake. They were so excited. They had a few days before the return trip.
We arrived at about midnight and my Nona was waiting up for me. I was ready to show off, seeing that i had slept for 4 hours. I was smiling and talking to Nona while Mommy and Daddy unloaded the car. Daddy then had to work some before bed time so I had even more time with my Nona. Popi was sleeping as he had to work on Friday morning. I did get to go say hello to him so i was very happy.
On Friday, we went to visit everyone at Nona's office. They introduced me to Stephanie and she quickly grabbed me and led the tour. We went all over the office, visiting each department and each person. There were so many of them and they were all so nice. This is for all of the other babies & toddlers reading this blog...Isn't it funny how all of these adults just drool over you? Sometimes it scares me because they do the same thing over a nice filet at Ruth's Chris. I love the attention nonetheless. To everyone at Piedmont Federal, it was great meeting you. You are all so wonderful and a joy to hang out with. I can't wait to see you all again, but after my visit, it was time for me to go home...time to see my Popi. He was coming home from work and i was very excited. It was a great Friday.
Saturday was great also. Daddy and Popi left us for a while to go talk to someone about a new countertop that Daddy wanted to research. So where do the ladies in my life take me...the mall of course. We picked up Emily on the way and headed for the mall. It was fun, but i was ready for the big event of the day, Barbeque...good ol' North Carolina Barbeque. OK, i ate mine in a different form after it had been filtered out by mommy's body, but it was still good. Mommy and Daddy love North Carolina Barbeque. My Aunt Kim, Cousins Emily & Graham and Grandma Neal all came to see me. It was the first time I met Graham and Grandma Neal. We enjoyed our time together and of course the Barbeque, Artichoke Dip (homemade by my Mommy), Macaroni & Cheese (homemade by my Daddy), Baked Beans (homemade by my Nona & Mommy) and then some dessert with homemade Coconut ice cream. After the fun was over, it was time for a bath and bed. Emily helped me with my bath. She and Graham wanted to hold me at all times. It's ok kids, i like being passed around. There is no such thing as too much attention for me.
Sunday was our day to leave. Another 5 hour drive thought Mommy & Daddy. We waited until my nap time (just after lunch) and then made the move. Mommy & Daddy were so pleased with me again. Daddy owes me a lot of stuff. He doesn't think i can understand his bribes, but i can. Daddy, you owe me a Pony, new car, swimming pool and a playground. Come to think of it, i have not seen any of these things. Just wait until the next road trip if I don't get any of these promised items.
I had a great weekend. I miss my Nona, Popi, Emily, Graham, Aunt Kim & Grandma Neal.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from last weekend:
