The Weaning Process

Amy here...This is simply a post for me to remember when we started trying to wean Peyton...may not be very interesting but read on if you desire!!!

When we were at our checkup appt last week with Dr. Karp we discussed how long Peyton should nurse. She said no longer than 15 months. Well, Peyton is on his way to being 14 months old and still nurses 3 times a day...once in the early morning, nap time and then bedtime. So, I have no issues with him continuing to nurse, but I also do not want to have a child that is asking for it either! So, this coming Thursday night, Kevin and I are having our first evening away from Peyton...and Nana is going to be the first one to have to put him to bed! So we decided instead of the the first time not nursing at night being with her, we are trying to start the process now. Last night, Kevin took up him and rocked him right to sleep. First night = Success! Second night = we will see how it goes....

A few of my favorite things

In honor of my buddy Matt and his favorite Hollywood/Chicago star, Oprah...i am going to show you a few of my favorite things.

Playing in my toys

Running around naked

Playing in cabinets and chewing on my Crocs

For a snack...Yogurt and Teddy Grahams

For Dinner...A salad. Ok...i don't really like salad, but this is a funny story. I love playing in the refrigerator when Mommy and Daddy open the door. I grabbed the box of salad that was in there and Mommy wondered why i was so quiet. I was just trying to help get dinner ready.

And with a nice salad, you must have a nice mixed drink. Here I am grabbing a quick drink from the liquor cabinet...OK-i don't really do that, but here i am playing in the cabinet. Please don't turn my mommy and daddy in for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Does a little Kahlua hurt in my milk? Just Joking!

And one of my favorite things...Looking cute

Nobody said that life is easy...sometimes I just need to get a quick nap in. And my favorite thing...My Mommy.

1 year Check up

I went this week for my 1-year check up and all is well. I know what you are thinking...a year one check up when i am thirteen months old. let's just say Mommy and Daddy procrastinated and this was the first appointment available with Dr. Karp. As always, i got a thorough exam and everything looked good. I continue to be an average height skinny boy with a big head. There it is...the update. Ok, I weigh 20lbs 3 ozs (9th percentile) am 30 1/2" tall (50th percentile) and my head is in the 97th percentile. This is probably a lot like Daddy was when he was my age. The pictures of him appear to show a tall, skinny baby with a big head and yes, my daddy has a big head. The more hair he loses, the bigger that head gets. See what i have to look forward to...
As for that hair on my head...it is turning blonder and blonder and is getting curly. Mimi gave us a picture of Daddy when he was young--maybe a year or two-- and that is exactly what my hair looks like. Curly on the sides and back. Pictures to follow.

New Tooth

I got a new tooth last Wedenesday June 10! My first molar...We think the next one is right behind it... Mommy just wanted to document for her sake!!

1 year Picture People Pictures...Finally!!!

Last Tuesday night, June 9 to be exact, almost 1 month after I turned 1, my Mommy and Daddy finally decided to take me to the Picture People and have my 1 year old pictures done. They did actually have my "real" pictures done with Ramone back on May 13, so a lot closer to my actual birthday, but we go once a month and get our free picture!!! Those people always want me to pose with things while I am there hence the chair, the number 1 and the cupcake...You can see my funny face I am making with the chair, I was actually trying to push it around. That is one of my favorite things to do. I push everything at home!

This is one of my Mommy and Daddy's favorites..
The cupcake shot...Can you believe they did not even give me a real cupcake??
I am 1...now what?!?!
Here I am smiling away...can you see all of my teeth?

Mommy and Daddy got there favorites and off we went. Hopefully they will not want to take me every month for the next 17 years!

Graduation Number 2!

Today was another big day for me...I graduated from my Birds class at the little gym! Mommy and me had such a fun time this semester learning how to do all kinds of fun tricks and forward rolls! I became a champ at doing forward rolls (with a little assistance from my Mommy)! Mommy and I have decided to take the summer off though...we need a little break! And who wouldn't want a break when we can play at the pool and the beach all day!!!?!? We will be back in September...hopefully I will not forget all my fun tricks over the summer!

This was me when I graduated from my Bugs class in January! Mommy can't believe how much I have grown....I couldn't even walk then!!!
